timing affects on idle..
hey guy what affects would advancing the timing have on a first gen would it idle down or up...i put a new drive seal in my pump and since it was loose i bumped the timing up and turned the pump up a little more.....now its running good but it idles a little rough and if i punch it in drive then hit the brakes hard it will die out....

Sounds like the throttle indexing is off. When i put in my 366 spring, i goofed and didnt index it properly. The idle was too low, and i had to move the throttle to keep it running.
Increasing the timing usually speeds up the idle, and adjustments to lower it back down are necessary. Turning in my fuel power screw did the same thing.
