Thanks for the Potentiometer/OD mod.

Thank you to Ouchman and Tuckerdee for the write ups. No more dropping out of OD at 70mph! How nice!

Hello, being a newbe here, I don't quite follow the pot/OD upgrade. Is it to keep from shifting in and out of OD at any given spd on a stock trans (it was rebuilt not to long ago)? Thanks in advance,

Scott, the trany shifting into and out of OD is primarily controlled by the TPS( Throttle Position Sensor) located on the top front f the IP on auto equipped trucks.
A dirty or worn out TPS can cause erratic shifting into and out of OD, or a complete OD failure.
The TPS is only available through dealers adn runs in teh neighborhood of $200 to replace.
By installing a POT( potentiometer) in place of the TPS, the OD shift points can be dialed in, and set higher or lower depending on need and preference.
and teh POT install can be done for under $20.....
Tuckerdee did an outstanding write-up about the install, look in the "Stickey" at the top of the First Gen Forums page for it adn other info...
