Steering Gearbox Reseal or New??

I hear people talk about the RedHead gearboxes but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with either the AC Delco, A1 Cardone, or Atsco steering gearboxes, good or bad??

Or would you just reseal the OEM unit? It doesn't have much slack but its started leaking out the input shaft seal.

You know what you have, reseal it. It's not hard.

If they aren't misadjusted, the hard parts usually last approximately forever. There's an old wife's tale out there, however, that has folks convinced that they can set the drag by feel on the truck. In fact it takes measuring inch/lbs on the bench. The result is a fuddled worm and ball assembly. A reputable shop won't rebuild them, but who knows what you'll get from Cardone or the others. If it's anything like the brake boosters I've fought with, I'm not interested.

I re-sealed the input shaft on my reman steering box unit a year or two ago. Was not that difficult.

Do a little research on the boards...pretty sure there was a thread showing exactly what to do and expect.
