Steering Box Mounting and other Questions

Hello Folks - The problem is back. This is the third steering box mounting plate (p/n 52037876) that I've broken in the last 10 years. Ive since noticed the (Power Steering Brace) from Dodge Connection but zero OEM original plates. I now realize the best thing to do is convert to a "crossover steering" conversion/upgrade. FYI, ive spent a bunch time trying to figure it all out on the sticky's but still scratching my head a bit. My goal is to ditch the plate all together and go with the crossover. A couple questions I have. Is it possible to bolt the steering box directly to the frame? And if you might be able to assist me in determining the size lift I have on my truck. (Bought it with it) I need her up and running to battle these floods we have been having, drove my Honda in 2 feet of water the other day! Bummed about this agrivating steering situation rearing its ugly head again... Thanks again!

I'll be more than happy to go out tomorrow and measure up for you. Can't now cause it's RAINING and sleeting here.

To me, without seeing the actual side shot of the truck from afar, it looks like a 3" or so lift.

Look's to be roughly 3 inch lift ? How much room from top of spring to bottom of Engine cross member . That is Main area you need to watch for crossover Steering .Hand's Down crossover steering is the Cat's Meow .

You could replace your current box with a reverse rotation box and mount from earlier truck as I did . One of the best mods I have ever completed using OEM parts .

Awesome, I like that Idea! Can these OEM parts be purchased through Dodge? or will I need to scout them out in a salvage yard. Does the mount use the same holes? Thank you!

Thanks! I'll have to check in the morning. Still wondering if I can bolt the box to the frame with out the mounting plate for the crossover idea.

When you go crossover you move the box back to the 2wd position and throw the plate in the garbage

Reverse Rotation Steering

If you are wanting Reverse Steering box and attaching parts . You will have to look at early 4x4 tryucjs . You will need box , mount , pitman arm and draglink
. Steering shaft is is larger on reverse box . Your PS pump is metric fitting older box requires flare fitting . Easy fix just change fitting on pump outlet . PM me if you have questions . You will like the finished results of the change .

I also have the rrsg set up on my truck. Best mod ever for me. Did a write up on it, and its in the sticky

My springs were 3" re-arched plus 2 extra leafs including a thicker main spring. You have 1" higher than mine, so you have a 4" lift
They naturally flatten out over time about 1/2" or so, so 3.5" lift to be safe.

Took a new pic, hopefully this will verify. Sounds like a 4 inch? I'll check out your write up! Thank you big time for the help!

Thank you DRD!
I'm hoping to find all the part numbers, sounds like it might take a few weeks to find all the parts. I see this method is more popular. I like the cast iron bracket. No drilling new holes in the frame for the cast iron bracket? Thanks!!
