second gen 12v sensors in 1st gen?
Hey guys, i have a question. Im doing a 12 valve swap in my 99 gas job. I was thinking of how cheap i can get a 1st gen parts truck for. I am using a 98 12 valve engine harness and computer because it will run my 99 gauge cluster, and i was wondering if i swapped in the sensors from a 98 to the 1st gen motor could I run a 1st gen motor with this harness and computer? no trans controls because it will be a 5 speed
thanks

not really sure, but I know the holes in the head and block are the same. I bet second gen 12v sensors would fit in the holes in the engine, and fit your harness if the first gen sensors dont already fit the harness.

Ok, thanks guys. My second question is will a getrag mount using my 2nd gen gas crossmember? Also, can i hook up a getrag using 2nd gen master and slave cylinder? will the 1st gen clutch and brake pedal bolt into a 2nd gen truck?
thanks for the help

i was at pick-n-pull yesterday and saw a 2nd gen 5-speed gasser truck. i was trying to get the shift **** off! couldnt budge it! i dont know about yours but this didnt have a nv35,4500. it was a half ton 2wd v6 truck. the slave and master set up looked the same but the slave was pointed the opposite way because it bolts into the trans bell housing, no exposed clutch fork. so yes they would work but make sure you use your 1st gen stuff.
the pedals looked very close. they had smaller pads but the brackets up top looked the same.
i dont think a getrag will bolt up to a 2nd gen crossmember because NVs are longer. but i honestly have no idea. it wouldnt be hard to make a new one or chop up a first gen to make it work. you can have one of my extras if you need it.
