Rear of cab bed light

Hi everyone,

Question, does anyone know is there any source for the gasket/seal for the rear light mounted on the back of the cab to illuminate the bed? 1993 w250. Mine is pretty worn and dried out. I removed the light and it doesn't look like it is leaking yet but I am sure it will in the near future.

I have looked all over and on ebay but all I can find are ones that have been pulled off trucks and are in the same shape that mine is in.

I was thinking if I had to maybe just make one but what do I use and where could I get a small sheet of the material to cut one out? The one on my truck seems pretty thick, and I can only find thin rubber sheets.

Thanks, hope everyone is having a GREAT weekend!

PS So. Cali is supposed to get a good rain coming in tonight/tomorrow, so be ready for STORM watch on the news with our BIG 1/2" of rain and all the idiots crashing on the freeway or the ones that need to be rescued cause the drove their lowered honda civic through a 5 foot deep flood roadway...........

So is your truck a clubcab, or reg cab? There are two different lights for the 1st Gen's. If you would be kind enough to fill out your signature with your truck info....

My crewcab uses the same cargo light as the clubcab trucks. And my gasket was non-existant...just silicone. I bought a 2' x 2' sheet of neoprene foam/rubber sheet off e-bay. Then cut out a gasket and installed. Been sealed for almost 2 years now.

Go to this e-bay auction....# 291614587133 Pretty sure this is the stuff I got, 1/8" thick, with a self adhesive backing on one side. I have found dozens of uses for this stuff!

I know what you need. I think I may have some new lens somewhere. Been trying to dig up a few gaskets for a while.

I used to replace mine with gaskets as well. Then I started getting water in the roof which stained my headliner at the rear window head. Once I switched to thumbgum that I purchased at an electrical supply, I haven't had one drop enter since.

Stuff never cures, so it will never leak until I go to remove it again.

Silicone sealant seldom lasts long, especially in an outdoor environment. I use Lexel synthetic rubber elastomeric sealant.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for everyone's help with this. So I ordered some neoprene sheets on eBay. Once they get here I'll trace the light and cut a new seal. I'll post an update letting everyone know it either worked or it didn't and now my headliner is full of water.....

I used Lexel on many high end house builds when I worked carpentry / framing.
It seems to really work well in the cold weather and hold up great.

Lexel is like Solar Seal which I use constantly, and both are excellent products.. It remains flexible over time, which prevents future infiltration. What I don't like about either one is the difficulty for removal if need be. It sticks very well to stuff, and can be difficult to remove when needed.

Hey T.C.

Happy Turkey day to you !.... oh, you don't celebrate Thanksgiving now?
Well, then, belated Thanksgiving to you, my friend.

What "goop" did you polish that turd with in the photo to make it look new ?

I have the same issue going on here.

Thanks!

Thanks for the belated Happy Turkey day.....and to you as well! Ours is in October....much more reasonable then your late November date....

I started with a SOS pad to get the yellow oxidizing off the plastic, then Mothers mag wheel polish, then Mothers plastic cleaner then Mothers plastic polish.

Hopefully, either DMT or LCM gets around to reproducing the gaskets for us standard cab guys.
