I replaced my broken odometer gears today. I turned them by hand to ensure they were seated and reinstalled in the truck. However it still did not work. I've messed with this thing all evening to no avail. I just now noticed that the circuit board that the stepper motor is mounted on has some bad (corroded) spots in the circuitry and was wondering if this could prevent the motor from working? Also noticed that the blue and black wires weren't soldered good when they broke off from the circuit board in my hand. Any thoughts..

I'm gonna resolder the wires back on and see if that fixes it but judging the condition of the circuit board I doubt that the resoldering will work and I'll have to find a better circuit board. I've got a few leads on some non-running trucks and will take a look at their circuit boards. Will a gas burner circuit board fit in our diesels (I'm sure they will)? Also, what years do I need to narrow my search down to that will work?

Yep, gasser is same, believe 90-93 are the same, but a first gen guy will verify.

93 looks different than the 90-92.

I put a 90-92 in my truck and it was way off. registered 15 + miles on a 5 mile trip. MPH needle way off than guessed assumed speed.

It could be a shot speedo.

Yep. Looking at the pics it will definitely have to be a 90-92 circuit board. My truck is a early 91 and looks just like the pic on the left. Thanks for posting this and helping narrow down my search. After reading all the posts on repairs to these old goats I don't know why we all insist on driving them

Well I got another speedo from a different truck. It's odometer gears were broke also so I put the new gears I bought in it and now i have a working odometer. I noticed the circuit board on the new speedo looked to be in way better shape than my original did. I went ahead and re-soldered the wires on the old one and will hang onto it for a spare since the speedo did work
