just stop at a walmart and buy a bed pillow to sit on, along with the advil.

Thanks everyone, greatly appreciate the offers! Ill be taking I80 for the majority...unless I find anything good on craigslist along the way If anybody needs anything along the way (close to I80) I'll be more than happy to grab it and bring it home with me.

Already have a bunch of wiper bushings here...me and a buddy bought out the local dealers stash

As far as Advil goes, I'm hoping the Kelderman will smooth out some of the bumps but I'll be sure to bring a bunch just in case!

Past that I think it should be a decent journey, Ill be sure to update the thread tomorrow with some new pictures of the ole girl. I cant wait! Just keep an eye on the thread for me...just in case I break something along the way!

If something does happen on the way home, be sure to also ask for help on 1stgen.org , some good folks over there are very close to 80 in IND, and NEB.

we all will do our best to get you fixed up and back on your way.

thats what's so nice about this forum, it's knowing there are guys out there that have your back.

be safe.

You obviously haven't driven across Arkansas. The PA turnpike is nothing compared to that mess. Every expansion joint on the road is at a different level and you just kathunk kathunk kathunk across the state. One trip was so bad that my triceps were sore from bouncing.

I find myself using my legs to elevate me up off of the seat at bridge crossings. Heck, I don't need to go to the gym for a week or so now

Lol

Arkansas sounds like fun....

Not

I'm doing a 1000+ mile trip the next couple days myself in Ol' Patches. Loading it up to the nuts with garage and shop stuff today...also pulling a 5x8 utility trailer loaded with tools and stuff as well.
Should be right around 2700 miles

Make sure to check the tires first and make sure they are not cracked,

If you have not been in a 1st gen in awhile, bring some ear plugs, the constant drone may be overwhelmingly for a long trip.

I was threw Ark last spring I40 is bad. I still had the leaf springs in back. With the front and rear hammering on those expansion joints it was bad.

Last time I was in PA I80 wasn't much better.

I am 60 miles south of I80 in Indiana if something comes up.

You are an I-40 Arkansas fan too, huh? I have an interesting story of the Pizza hut at the Brinkly exit.

JC, if for whatever reason you need anything in Illinois, I am about the middle of the state, 20 miles south of I80.

Streator Illinois.

Well guys, bad news... Flew to Cali...didn't leave with a truck

Truck rode and drove great with the Kelderman, I was pretty impressed. Needed some shocks but all in all the ride was good. The original owner had good taste in accessories, Horton fan, Kelderman, Banks intercooler, mild fuel pin, Banks dash gauge pod...

After talking to the current owner on the way back to his house I figured out that he basically had no understanding of diesels and 1st gen dodge trucks. He bought the truck because he needed a work truck and thought it looked cool. Aside from doing regular oil changes and throwing some stickers on the windows he didn't do anything to the truck in the 4-5 years he owned it. Brakes needed some work, seemed to idle a little rough and a little low on power...asked if he ever changed the fuel filter...he had no idea

Aesthetically the truck looked good upon my pickup from the airport..."newer" paint. Once we got to his house I really climbed around and got into everything. The paint wasn't quite up to my standards...looked like a quick job without proper prep. A couple runs and swirls. Upon closer inspection I started to find evidence of bondo... Not happy

Passenger side cab and door was all buggered up. Now since he had no idea if the fuel filter was ever changed he told me he had no idea if the truck was in an accident and if it was he had no idea how bad. So here I am some where in California, staring at what hoped to be my dream truck...hopes and dreams are now shattered and I have no idea what my next move is.

So long story short... New Jersey to California and back in less than 24hrs.

So I'm back on the search. If anybody knows of a very clean truck for sale please share! Obviously I'm willing to travel
