New First Gen, Cali to NJ, here we go!

Well after about 2 years of not having a first gen I finally found another one that's up to my standards! A rust free 91.5 rc auto LE 4x4. 160k on the broken odometer

Two owner truck, old man who passed away a couple years back and the current owner who isn't much of a First Gen fan, he just always liked it. Truck was impeccably maintained by the original owner. He added a grandpa cap, kelderman air ride, a nice dash mounted 3 gauge pod, larger intercooler, fuel pin and who knows what else.

Flying into Northern California Saturday morning, loading up, then turning east for a long ride home. Planning to bring the necessary tools and stopping along the way for some other random necessities, filters, fluids, spare belt, whatever else I think of. Wish me luck!

I'll be sure to post some pictures along the way...

Sounds like fun, fellow NJ-ite...

Keep us posted on your new ride..

BTW, how much ?

if you don't mind telling us...

or you could just make up any arbitrary number and say that's what you paid...

Oh yeah... $850.00

Not the deal of the century but all in all Im happy with the $8000 price tag The truck has everything I want and its rust free...unlike everything you see out here in NJ with price tags of $10k+.

And since I'm from NJ I don't really know if its technically considered Northern California but I'm flying into San Fran , truck is approximately an hour from there I think... Concord.

It is considered northern California. Concord is bout 100 miles southwest of where I am Should be a good road trip.

I see they already added an old school Chrysler voltage regulator to the truck. Hopefully there will be no issues. If it dies you can pick any RWD Chrysler car from 1974 to 1989 and the parts stores can grab it.

I believe the 91's had the standalone regulator... Good info none the less! Thanks!

Intercooled 91 models had an external voltage regulator just like the 91 and older models. Nice looking truck.

Congrats on the new-to-you 1st gen....looks like a nice unit! And I think you paid a fair price for it. So how many miles will it be?

I'm doing a 1000+ mile trip the next couple days myself in Ol' Patches. Loading it up to the nuts with garage and shop stuff today...also pulling a 5x8 utility trailer loaded with tools and stuff as well.

A few years ago I flew out to Vegas and picked up a truck in Bullhead City, NV. Almost identical looking, white regular cab 91.5 with the grandpa cap . . . but a 5 speed and your paint is a lot better.

I drove back on 40, and really enjoyed going through the southwest. It was a really great trip, just driving across the country, and stopping by some places I hadn't been before.

With any kind of luck you'll have a really enjoyable drive, and no trouble.

Really nice gesture but that would be several hundred miles out of the way.

Unless he's doing a vacation style trip he'll hit I-80 and go out through Salt Lake City. That, too, can be a very long but scenic drive.

Don't forget to stock up on the Advil Liquid gels.

My back has been all boogered up because of bridge crossings on the PA turnpike and RT 70 in Ohio and WV. I guess engineers don't drive 1st gen trucks on their own roads.
