i know this has been gone over a number of times, but i'm not having much luck finding any info in the archives. will air in the lines do it? when first starting, it has some fairly serious rpm issues as well. like it doesn't want to idle..... i thought that when a ve goes, it just doesn't work?? i've got some injectors to put in this weekend, maybe i'll be able to see something then. any ideas though? thanks

Mine did that when I tried Bio fuel Took 3 tanks of new diesel fuel to finally get it to clean up.

Is the KSB working?

just something you might want to check out wen you change those injectors if you got massive white smoke might be some coolant making its way to pistons when engine cold remove injectors dip one of those long qtips inside smell it to see if it smells like coolant

i hope not and its alway a good idea to checkcompression while your there give you a good idea if you got pressure leaks

Mine pours out white smoke like a frieght train when cold but fires up everytime, thats w/o grid heaters on and I don;t think my ksb works either but she still fires. Takes about a min for it to clear and then it will just haze white smoke at idle. I also know that im getting air in the lines so if air could make it smoke more then it may be why mine smokes so much.

Hey Dave, how cold out, plugged in or no, and do the grids work? If I start mine unplugged and without the grids in the 20's it's pretty pukey for a minute or two.

My truck bellowed out white smoke today for the first time on startup. It wasn't started for just about two weeks. It has never done it until today. Once it warmed up it was fine. Just plain ol' smoke out 4 lanes of traffic black

What should the compression be for a healthy engine, and how much variance between cylinders is acceptable? TIA

anywhere from 0-30+, doesn't do the reluctant to start thing if it's been plugged in but still smokes (not as much though). yes, the grids work. i tried my ksb override switch today with no results. maybe that means that it's working. haven't really had much time to really check it out.

i will be checking compression when i yank the squiters. hopefully the dyno shop will have a boroscope as well. we'll see.

water temp has almost seemed a little low for a while. i haven't been driving long distances much in the last few months though. just short trips. smoke just smells like pure, eye burning, throat coating, raw, unburnt #2.

mine were between 474 and 500 how high it is is not has important has if it leaks or how much diff is between them if compression leaks you may have a bad gasket somewhere
