I ain't yet figured out pictures or I would post mine.
I picked bigredbrick's out as a good example of where gauges should be for easiest visibility.
I put my tach on top of the dash, centered with the column, straight in front of my eyes; an excellent position one would think.
I can't see it worth a flip.
I drive with my left hand on the very top of the wheel for absolute steering control; none of that elbows locked up 10-O'Clock and 2-O'Clock ignorance for me.
When I need to see my tach, I must shift the position of my hand or lean over and look around it = not really good.
I have put up with it for years, but it is soon getting moved.
I mounted a three-gauge pod located similarly to the one in bigredbrick's picture and I can read the gauges easily at all times; I barely have to shift my eyes.

I have a Banks Gauge Pod mounted on my dash, these had the bottom mounting plate so it sets at the proper angle and has easy access to the underside for the connections.
Here is the view what I see at night, I sometimes have to dim them because they are too distracting, this also makes you a target when you are not in a good neighborhood.
Note, I am not a bad photographer; they are out of focus because I was focusing on the road ahead of me. This is what they look like with LED’s in them.
BTW this is the view that Relayed Silver Stars will get you.
And here they are again powered by #94 incandescent lamps, see how yellow they are.
My son also bought me an Autometer 2 gauge and a single pillar mount, he said “here now you can get them off the dash” I said no way, now I am going to add 3 more.
