Idle sticky

I had a issue with high idle sticking. If i push the idle lever it dies down to normal idle. As soon as i step on the throttle it goes back up and sticks. Pump bad? Havnt change the fuel filter in a real long time, could it be that?

I hope you aren't driving it until you figure it out.

Likely, either the cable is frayed, or a return spring fell off.

Cable is good. I looked at it last night and it looks like the nut fell off the idle screw. I couldn't get it to move at all though. I might need to take the top hat off to get to it. I'm not driving it, took the subaru to work. I don't get it, yesterday it almost felt like it wanted to take off but as soon as I let off the fuel it let go. Almost like a run away.

Return spring is good, if I open the throttle all the way, it springs right back. Before it was sticking though, now it's not. I did spray it down with some grease, maybe that is all it needs. Either way I need to get this idle screw fixed.

Anyone know the part numbers for the two springs, I need the spring that looks like the cancer symbol and the high idle spring below it;

I have started a few 12v trucks that sat for year[s].
The whole throttle assembly at the top needs some lube and working back and forth, so it doesn't stick at part throttle.
Maybe all the hot humid weather is making it stick.
That and some fresh return springs, should get you back to driving the truck.

sounds like the shaft coming through the cover is binding, if your pulling it to address idle adjustment, youll clean and waterproof grease the shaft too. governor springs right there.

I put some muscle grease around the spring and it is returning fine. I still need to address the idle screw. I was hoping to get the top hat off this weekend but the wife wanted me to build a sandbox for the daughter. Once I get the rod out I'll have to take it to the hardware store for some nuts that'll fit.
