Getrag to nv4500 swap slave cylinder?
I'm in the middle of a nv4500 swap. I have a second gen tranny adapter and fly wheel . I bought the second gen slave cylinder but is has a weird o-ring line connection. Can I use the first gen slave in its place?
Note: there are 2 different first gen slave cylinders according to the parts house guys

don't think so, kit I got has advance adapters bell housing, and reuses 1st gen slave. on my ramcharger build, ive got second gen bell housing, and planned on master/slave purchase, but still have older parts. if slave will mount up, maybe you can alter push rod.

I bought the AA bellhousing kit for my NV4500 swap. I also bought a new ready-to-go master/slave kit from GoRhino. If I remember correctly their kit fit 89-93. '94 and up was different due to the pipe connecting the master and slave. The throw out arm is also different between the 1st gen and 2nd gen trucks. I don't think a 1st gen slave will work because the mounting holes may be different.
I'd be more inclined to get a pre-filled master/slave kit rather than having to bleed the system. I've heard that can be a real bugger.

The second gen master attaches to the firewall exactly the same way as the first gen. I assume they are the same size and interchangeable. The only thing I remember being different is a small screw used in the second gen that needs to be removed from the firewall sheet metal before you can rotate the master to remove it, I don't beleive the 1st gen trucks used this.

yep, first gen twist lock install master, im measuring bolt centers at 2-15/16 for slave mounting, both same, bore holes a tad smaller on 2nd gen, but both slaves are 24.5mm bore, if pushrods no issue, I guess pedal rod could be? I don't own the 2nd gen clutch master yet, but maybe don't want to with '74 rc.

2nd/3rd gens M/C's mount differently. The M/C mounts to the outside of the firewall on a mounting plate. The 1st gen mounts inside the firewall on a bracket bolted to the steering column/ pedal support bracket. The good news is the actual mounting point of the later M/C is the same as 1st gen mounting. It is the same twist lock setup.
The M/C push rods are longer on a 2nd/3rd gen. Even on a adjustable push rod M/C the rod is to long. Now for the good news. If you have a getrag M/C. Remove the push rod and install in the later M/C and your there. If you don't have a 1st gen M/C to pirate from. You can cut down an adjustable M/C pushrod. You will need to remove about 1.375" from the 2nd/3rd gen M/C pushrod. Then rethread the rest of the rod. Now doing this will require you to remove the clutch pedal safety switch. With the shorter push rod and it being adjustable it will wipe out the clutch safety switch. If you cut down a non-adjustable push rod the safety switch can be used. BTW the non-adjustable M/C pushrods were made from aluminum. I didn't want to deal with shortening one of them. The adjustable push rods are steel. I had both style setups on the bench at SBC to compare. I picked the easiest one to mod.
I went threw this when I did my G56 swap.
Now on a side note. The later adjustable setup the slave cylinder had the same casting number as the original getrag slave cylinder. The bore was the same. The M/C had the same bore size and stroke length as the Getrag M/C.
