Fuel line and dying with heavy throttle
ok guys I need some help on my fuel lines from the tank to the lift pump. Would it be ok to replace it all the way with rubber hose? I think I have a leak somewhere because when I crack the bleeder I always get a little bit of bubbles. It cranks and runs fine until I get on it on the highway but I can clutch it and it comes back alive. That kinda sounds to me like the lift pump isn't keeping up. Am I on the right track with this?

Unless you have an older non I/C truck with metal fuel lines, I wouldn't replace them, besides the return line would leak on the frame or the ground. Sounds like your fuel filter need changed or your lift pump is failing. Is there anyway you can get a gauge after the lift pump to diagnose it?

Unfortunately I don't have a fuel pressure gauge at the moment. After you mentioned the lift pump failure I went out and checked both the filter and the pump. First off the filter was dry as a bone so I tried priming the pump and there was no pressure on the lever. So now the big question is to spring for a hungry diesel piston pump or a parts store replacement
