Front leaf springs!
Hi everybody,
I was wanting to put new leaf springs under the front of my truck since the current ones are flat and/or bent backwards and was wondering what brand you guys recommended. I want my truck to sit level when I'm done so will a new set of springs fix that or am I going to have to get a couple extra springs? Also has anyone tried the soft ride springs? I've heard about them but I don't know how well they work. Any input will be appreciated!!

I like my parabolic springs, they're tough. I love the ride with the firestone airbag suspension (riderite). It just glides down the road and the computer makes things quick and easy to adjust the comfort. My truck would bang your head off the roof when you hit a bump. The firestone airbags are pretty sweet and the cost is around $400 per axle. You can find kits on ebay though for $400 for the entire kit.
Since then I removed the airbags though. They're going into the RC which my wife uses and will be a traveling rig.
Projects = Many
Time = None
I've heard good things about alcan springs as well. My customsuspension springs have been on the truck for awhile and no sag yet.

Some people knock Skyjacker leaf springs, but I have run them on several Dodges for almost 20 years and I like them for the money.

I replaced my fronts recently with because they were sagged (or so I though) and the leaf ends were wearing through to the point that I was worried about breakage. I was all ready for a level sitting truck just to find out that replacements still didn't lift the front enough.
So if you want level you might consider a 2" lift spring.

Skyjacker makes 1 and 2 inch front springs for our Cummins truck which are basically for leveling out your truck.
Then they also make 4, 6 and I believe 8 inch front springs as well, where you would want to modify the rear suspension so it didn't have the saggy backside look.
I have used their 6 inch front AND rear springs on several projects with good results. I am not a fan of double stacked blocks on the rear.

Those are the Skyjacker springs I have been talking about…
Yes I have tried them.
Yes they work.
I believe the D stands for diesel springs rather than the gasser spring packs.
The 200 stands for 2 inches of lift.
The 400 stands for 4 inches on lift.
Going to Skyjacker's website will answer all your questions AND give you prices.

Skyjackers ride better than stock springs. I have ran a set of them for 10 years or more. They could be a little softer to my likes. These ride best with about #1500 on the front of the bed or a goose neck on.
Now a little warning here. Your 92 most likely has a 5/8" front spring eye bolts. Skyjacker is going to send you a set of springs with 1/2" spring eye bushings. It does not matter what you tell them you have for bolt size. You will receive the 1/2"ers. If you call and complain all they tell you to do is take the steel sleeve out of the front bushings. When skyjacker did the fab work on nonIC trucks they were equipted with 1/2" bolts. Dodge changed bolt size in 91.5 from what I have been able to figure out. Skyjacker didn't change. If you do a internet search you can find all sorts of threads about this problem.

That is strange Phillip as the last set of 6 inch SkyJackers I ordered about 10 years ago from National Tire and Wheel, came with two sets of bushings, both the bigger and smaller set.
