I read somewhere --- here maybe --- that there is a "flap" inside the left fender that deflects water away from the kick-panel vent.

As best I recollect, this flap deteriorates and then water can leak behind the kick-panel and thus under the carpet.

It was a good article with lots of pictures and maybe even instructions on how to cure the problem.

Of course, that may or may not be where your moisture is coming from.

That is not the article I was meaning, but there are a lot of good possible leak suspects discussed.

I would not block off the use of that vent; I would do as someone suggested and add deflectors.

I agree with bear killer, once you get into this project you will see why shops charge as much as they do. Honestly, I dont see how anyone could do it right and still make a profit.

I dont know how well your floorpan will fit, but as I havent seen any of the companies sell one specific to the diesel, I imagine they all suffer from the same thing as mine. I think the Diesel tranny tunnel is wider than the gasser, because my floorpan was about 2 inches too wide to fit in place. So I had to cut the tunnel side off in order to narrow it up. Also, the seat mount area is different, so I had to do a bit of cutting and hammer/dolly work to get it to work. If I had to do it all over again, I would have saved the money and made the pan myself because I think I spent just as much time getting the one I bought to fit as I would have just making one from scratch. Ill try to post some pics of everything Ive done so far.

Here are some of the pics. You can see where I had to cut it down and form it around the stock seat mount. Im actually just about to head outside to finish it up...lol
