If I was towing or going long distance I might keep the 15-40 in there but
I don't tow and my driving is short distance around town stuff.

Even though I do use Power Service, I do not rely on any additive when it comes down to fuel jelling. Been let down more than once. What I do is run 50/50 #1/#2 diesel. No more problems in that regard. Every state has different rules, but you should be able to find "on road" (taxed) #1.

Modern synthetic oils and additives are amazing. alisyn makes a 0 weight oil that has enough film strength to meet GL5 specs. Wonderful fluid in a drag outboard LU. The same exact fluid works well as an all season motor oil.

I live in the very southern tip of ILL, so maybe it gets a little coolder here than where you are, i have my grids taken out of my truck all together, i don't use any additives other than 20 oz of two stroke oil in the fuel probably just for my piece of mind, i plug my truck in at 35* the nite before i am planing on driving mainly so i have heat on the way to work, at work i park with the nose looking south and even on days when the temp dips down in the high teens it still fires up after work, i will start it at noon in those temps and let it run for 15-20 min.

these old truck can start in some pretty extreem temps with the grids in good working order, even after sitting for multiple years.
