I have a very nicely grinded down fuel pin and a denny t stage two fuel pin, which one will I get more power out of?

I have never used a dennyT, but I used to run a stock ground pin for a couple years. I then had my father in-law machine me a pin more like a dennyT stage 1 which is the same power level as stage 2. Both pins gave the same boost numbers, and butt dyno feel. Only difference is less smoke/better fuel control at low boost with my machined one vs the stock ground.

Okay mam, thanks, I threw the denny t in and it did seem to smoke a little less, haven't got to drive with it yet but I'll post my thoughts, just wondered what other people thought

Other people think installing gauges first is best, so you know something more than how it effects the smoke levels…

with proper grinding on the SHALLOW side of a stock pin, one can achieve the exact same final power as any aftermarket pin.

this is a picture of my pin that achieved it on the shallow side. It's a pretty conservative ramp to start which is nice for not blowing gobs of smoke at low/no boost takeoff. It's sort of hard to explain but in order to do it properly you have to take the whole pump top off. You then remove the pin and grind some of the pin. slide it in place to the bottom of it's bore as though you were getting full afc travel and move the AFC lever and see if the little part of the afc lever is bottoming out on the housing where it pushes on the guide pin. If it's not, grind more on the fuel pin, then check again, etc etc. Do that until you're just barely getting full travel. I used grease on the fuel pin to see where the guide pin was sliding on the fuel pin so I knew where to grind. I also kept the spring in place so I could make sure the starwheel wasn't too high limiting the fuel pin travel due to coil bind with the spring.

Hopefully that makes sense...
And it doesn't look like there is much material left of the fuel pin and that it might break, but the picture is sort of deceiving, there is plenty of metal left to hold it together. Just don't drop the pin on the conrete floor or it could actually break.

I have to say Rick, that grind does look good.

Brian, if I recall correctly, the guide pins are not all the same length. If that's the case, you would want to use the actual top cover & AFC assembly that you are going to run as the gauge for the grind.

I have used a ground stock pin, a Bully Dog pin, a Denny T stage 1, and a stage 2. The Denny T stage 2 was the best pin by far! Loved it, towing was great and all around use was wonderful. I have an AFC delete now though...

I ground my own pin very similar to Rick 12V using a dremel. I think there is a write-up about it in the "Sticky". I then decided to put in a DennyT stage 2 and I have to say that although Denny makes a great pin, I was a little bit disappointed that it didn't have any more measurable (seat of the pants) power than my stock ground pin. Just take your time and get it as smooth as you can, you will be impressed with the difference it makes.
