That's righ, I forgot the 46RE is incorrect. What I don't understand with this is why do they correspond the 46RE with this year of tranny? I agree with you about telling the shops it's a A-518! I don't trust the 46RE title description.
Thank you again.
Who is they? They don't know what he's talking about.

Gasser's might have been electric shift in 93. IDK.

I had spoke with Transtar gave them the year of truck & engine, as with several other Dodge enthusiast. Even the shift kit I put in was for a 46RE.
Oh well, I suppose I'll need to return my rebuild kit. Every tranny I looked up agreed with you on the years as does the tranny book I have.

Yup. Me too. The only thing I used from the AA kit was the bell housing. I junked the chintzy sheet metal mount adapter and replaced it with .25" thick square tube. I also didn't like the NP-205 shifter adapter for the same reason: chintzy. I went with and ORD twin stick set up. The bell housing was OK but I had to take a fair amount of metal out of the barring tool pocket so that the barring tool wouldn't bind on the bell housing and become impossible to remove.

If I were to do it over I would use a 2nd gen adapter plate, bell housing and starter. The big reason being that 1st gen throw out forks are basically unobtanium (I bet Ollie has a few though!).

The driveshafts will need to be [rear] lengthened and [front] shortened.
You will need roughly a 2 inch square spacer block for above the transmission crossmember.
You will need to move the transmission crossmember back one hole and re drill the frame for it.
That is the short and sweet of most of the work before you.
Would the 2 inch spacer need to be done on a 2 wheel drive truck. I went from a 518 to a 47rh and elongated the trans mount holes to line up correctly with the thicker adapter plate. Then went to a getrag with sane xmember and now I'm running an NV with sane xmember. I've never heard of the spacer, and mine seems to line up and sit just fine. Is this a 4x4 thing

I rarely work on 2wd, but I am pretty sure it is a 4x4 issue only.
