Thanks guys!
I had fun designing that intake horn / cross over tube out of left over 1st and 2nd gen parts I had in the shop.
T-man, I don't want an intercooler on this project, as the gauntlet will not tow heavy, if at all.
The big reasons though are I want to keep the older '89 grille and limit piping in the engine bay for a cleaner look.
I also plan to only lightly tuning the pump so EGTs should not be an issue. I worry about too much power with a short wheelbase rig with an LSD rear axle and little weight over the back end.

I'm glad you got it though... It went to a good home.

Thanks T-man.
It needed a lot more work and re-assembly then either of us thought from the previous build thread on it.
It was basically a rolling and steering RC, full of parts and with a working E-brake cable for safety. The motor was stripped down and sitting in a crate. The Getrag and NP-205 on a pallet and boxes full of wiring, gaskets, brackets and bolts stacked to the ceiling in the RC.
I think you would have had a rough time sorting it all out in the front yard.
I have my work cut out for me and it can stay in my shop all the time. When I pull out all the boxes of parts in the back to find stuff of it it looks like the Carlisle swap meet vendor section on my shop floor.
I will have 100 of hours into re-building / re-assembly by the time it is on the road.
I am trying to track down a friend who welds for a living to weld up that aluminum intake horn for me next.
I would need to get a spool gun and a pure argon ,or similar, gas tank to weld it myself with my MIG welder.
I figured trading some day lift tickets to the ski MT and some beer might be easier and faster.
I bet his welds will look better too!

I had the local welding shop aluminum weld up that intake horn.
I will be picking it up this morning on my way to a double snowboard race on the mountain.
My friend was on vacation, so I had the shop he works for weld it.

I was too busy with the double race yesterday.
I won one and took a second place in the other race for the snowboarders.
That always makes the beer at the after race party taste better.
Looks like our team will make the finals for the season.
I am off to the local welding shop to pick up my intake horn now.
I just had to steal the new water pump off the Gauntlet motor to throw it on my '95 DD as it started to pee alien blood Monday.
One step forward, two back.
Are the Gates water pumps still made in the USA?
Or, are there any other USA made options for water pumps?
When I asked that to the guy at Napa where the pumps they sold where made, I got the standard.
"I don't know"

Yeah, when I did a search of the 1st gen forum on Monday night, I read that you posted that on a thread about water pumps.
What did you end up using, John?
Searching the web, I found out the Gates water pumps are made in China.

I am taking a few days off too just wrench in the shop.
I will have a couple of my friends to help sort out all the parts.
Last night I pulled every thing out of the RC and tried to sort out the boxes of parts.
After an hour or so I found a nice engine bay harness that will match the dash harness that was already installed.
Today we will finish buttoning up the motor and try to get it fired up on the shop floor, as I have never seen that motor run.
The South Bend Clutch for it is in the mail.

After two 12 hour days in the shop with two of my friends, we are starting to put parts back together.
We have the front clip off the RC, the motor all buttoned up and we got it test fired up on my shop floor last night before dinner.
I am grabbing a quick breakfast now and headed to the shop to install the motor.
I will fill you guys in with more details on the build when the dust settles, but I gotta wrench now.

The motor is now sitting in the frame rails.
The hydro boost is plumbed up using factory 2nd gen lines.
Fuel tank was dropped and the sending unit and lines inspected.
Several long days in the shop...good times!

Are you using a Dodge or GM hydrobooster/master assembly, collecting info to do my truck and there are many options for lines, just trying to figure out which way to go (GM or Dodge lines or made by me lines).

Now is that clear as mud.
