Your truck has the same paint scheme as mine, I am rebuilding mine slowly, my cab is not worth saving so I found another. Then I got a sweet deal on a front clip. It just takes time. Make a plan, write it down, prioritize it so that funds are focused on the needs at hand.

I got the twin stick adjusted how I want it. Now I need to pull the shifter sticks themselves out and get them powder coated. I am half way through the process of killing the KDP. The good news is that my KDP is right where it belongs and hasn't moved.

Would like to see your twin stick set-up...sounds interesting.

That's kind of cool that we have the same paint scheme. I don't like red but the truck was a mile from my house and the price was right (almost). The twin stick was a semi frivolous expenditure. But I figured since the floor was cut up and the front drive shaft was off I might as well go for it. My priorities are to get the truck: to move on it's own (done), to get it roadworthy (needs brake and steering work), to get it inspected and on the road (needs a fair amount of rust rehab in the cab and a little on the frame, stupid little stuff too, tires), get it reliable (needs unknown at this time but I have been considering various upgrades), start tweaking performance.

One of the benefits of the twin sticks are it is easier to shift. That alone has got to be worth something.

How hard is it for others to get their transfere case into, and out of gear? I know mine in the crewcab is almost friggin impossible!! Moving or not.

I have come to believe that a lot of the problem if the case is hard to shift comes from crudded-up shift rails. My AZ truck shifts really well. The Blue truck I put twin sticks in, because it would shift into front high before rear high with the stock linkage, so you couldn't shift on the move 4 lo to 2 hi with the hubs unlocked . . . when I rebuilt that xfer case the stock rails were cruddy enough that they stuck in the bores. I always try to shift into 4 lo when I park in the winter now, to wipe the salt off the shift rails, and leave them inside the case while the truck is sitting.

That is because you are moving two shift forks with pretty strong detents at once. add any load to that and it only gets worse.
Good spring actuated hubs help too.(sorta like being in two places at one time) I hated my old Selectros on my Chevy(worm gear actuated) Sometimes You had to rock the truck back and forth just to get the hubs locked.

Transfer case is newly rebuilt. Cleaned up the rails, and new ***** and springs. Should shift smooth as silk in my mind anyways....

Someone should engineer up an old hurst shifter to use as a TC shift mechanism. Then you could have the easy of a twin stick...on a single shifter. Hmmmm....goes outside to look for old shifter parts.....

Mine goes in and out of gear pretty well now! It isn't quite smooth but has a nice positive feel when shifting. The only odd thing is that the front axle shifter has about twice the throw of the rear axle shifter.

I finished tabbing the KDP, put everything back together and realized I forgot to put the dust seal on the end of the crankshaft. I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.

I made some home made air filter nuts out of 1/2" wing nuts and 1/4" coupler nuts that I welded with a torch. The welds aren't the best but that's what I get for being too lazy to set up the mig welder. Maybe overkill but was probably easier and cheaper than trying to find the OEM plastic nuts. And I painted them yellow!!
