1985 Crew Cab W350 Diesel 5 speed 4:10 what have you towed long haul

On the move to a Diesel swap into my 85 Crew cab W350.X ARMY TRUCK What I would like to know is.
What will it tow like I have been using a D350 dully and for over the road it is great.
Can anyone tell me what there experience is with towing 5000 LB to 12000 LB trailers with the Crew cab.
I don't need two trucks at the same time I don't need to go out and look to buy my D350 truck back if the crew cab is a squirrelly MF on the big road towing a big trailer. Any help Thanks

With that long *** wheel base it should be real stable. The only thing is that you don't have the training wheels, so you won't be able to corner as well.

My 85 D350 crew (6200lbs) tows a 5300lb gooseneck trailer with 7k pounds of truck on it just fine. Sometimes I wished I had a regular cab pickup for the shorter wheelbase though. Just from a maneuvering standpoint.

Training wheels are awesome, especially in the hills on sharp turns.
I'll never tow heavy (over 16,000 GCVW) with a single wheel EVER again.
I've towed a 4 car trailer (GCVW of 27,000 +) through the mountains with a dead stock VE and it absolutely SUCKED.
The Getrag didn't like it, either.

A 6 speed with a P pump is ideal.

Mark.

Hay Thanks I have towed 16000lb GCVW with the dully and it rocks.
I 'm just getting started on the crew cab project and my buddy wants my dully. I looked a long time for a rust free truck this one does not see winter roads.
I may not need two trucks now but in a year things could be totally deferent and the price of the new stuff is nuts unless some one else pays for it and the old Dodge gets me to the top of the hill just fine.

I had 4:10s in the D350 and switched to 3:54 and top speed was 72 or 74 MPH. With the 3:54s I get 86 MPH. The Crew cab has 4:10s with 33" tires so I think I will try it out before I put in the 3:54s. Truck Cops in this part of the country are becoming very picky about everything. A friend that rebuilds transmission told me to run 4th gear out all the way before going into 5th gear because it is a small gear and the diesel can put the hurt on 5th gear??
74 MPH was to slow but she pulled anything and everything anytime like a Fright Train up to speed.

With the 3.54's and my NV4500 I can pin 100 mph on the highway no problem. And I'm not even running my 3200 spring right now either. Doesn't seem to slow down, or de-fuel at all...I had to take my foot out of it.
