12v Head Swap

12v Head Swap
Welp, here Im NY Our winter is officially here early this year, with a foot of snow over night. So the trucks going in the garage, while I figure out what I'm going to it over the winter.
Iv got a set of ARP studs, gaskets, valve springs, and a built 47rh that will be keeping be busy. But thinking about the stud and gasket install into my factory non-ic truck, iv read the 9mm heads are prone to cracks, and I figured this would be a perfect opportunity to swap it out.
I would like to find a 2nd Gen 12v head for this project. From what iv read, this head will work, except obviously it has 7mm injector holes. My truck currently has ddp 7mm injectors with 9mm sleeves, so I figured removing the sleeves these injectors should be fine, correct me if I'm wrong. As for 2nd Gen valves and springs, I don't believe there are any differences, please correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to have the head P&P prior to install also
Before I make the investment, I wanted to ask here. Am I missing any thing, or any information I should know before I jump into this?

The 2nd gen head will work just fine.
BUT . . . .
You'll find the boss, cast into the head for our throttle linkage assembly mount has not been milled and drilled. No big whoop.
Look at your old head and locate the mounting bracket holes to the new head. Drill and tap. Good to go.

Ohh, alright
Over the winter while I'll be doing this project, I figured since I am going to have It apart, it might be a good opportunity to port and polish.
Has anyone here had any p&p work done to there head, and was it worth the money/worth the time to do it?
I have new valve springs that will be installed, should I replace valves also, or send it our to have p&p and valve job done. I had head work done in the past, but never on one of these CTD engines. The truck does have the oem ve pump on it, but iv built it with all intentions to just have fun with. This truck will likely become a P Pump truck eventually over the next few years

This is probably a discussion all of its own but. BC847, you seem to have a lot of information so I'll shoot it by you.
Since all this Cylinder Head talk iv been thinking about it all night. Iv read that the Non ic 1st gens run a 155 spray pattern and the ic 1st gens run a 145 spray. These injectors that I'm running are the 55lpm DDP 3 injectors, they are 7mm injectors with 9mm sleeves to fit in the non ic head... would this mean, although the sleeve's allow the injectors to fit in the head, they more than likely have a 145* spray, and not actually the 155* needed to match the non ic pistons? DDP doesn't seen to state much information about these injectors on there website
Someone please tell me if what I wrote doesn't make sense, and I will clarify
