Turn key and engine won't shut off
I have a 97 5.9 cummin and when I turn the key off, the dash and stuff turn off but the engine won't shut off, tired of useing the clutch to killet the engine. Any idea on what to do? Maybe a kill switch or something?

John, that is for a first gen, he has a second gen.
To the OP, the first thing you have to do is determine if the solenoid is being held in mechanically or electrically.
Here is a picture of what you will be looking at, it is at the back of the Injection Pump.
What you will be looking for is a smooth movement by hand thru the range of motion, various things from grunge in the solenoid to rust on the linkage can make it sticky, usually, but not always it manifests itself as a failure to start, but not always.
Check that first, as it is the most obvious and likely cause. You can remove the solenoid and clean, lube ( with very light oil ) and replace the rubber boot which has probably rotted away and address any issue with the linkage. DON'T waste your money buying a new one, you don't need one, just clean and fix the one you have.
A good source of all the replacement parts is Larryb - Shop online for auto repair, truck repair parts, alternators and starter solenoids from Foster Truck.
Specifically;
Larryb - Dodge Fuel Solenoids - Dodge Fuel System parts - Dodge Cummins Diesel
Check that out and get back to us how your lever feels.

Another one with a push-pull cable, '95 12 valve with 613 k miles, put in the push-pull cable on advice from this Forum probably 15 years ago. Thanks for the good advice!
