PCM Part Number 1997 CTD Auto 4X4
Looking for the part number for a 49 state PCM for a 1997 CTD Auto 4X4. I have a Ca. model and want to say AMF (adios my friend) to it. . Mine has a few different #s on it. (see the pic). Any idea if a 98 4X2 auto CTD will work ?

Not to hijack but I have a similar question regarding the PCM in my 95 4X4 auto. I've been having the TQ shudder and related problems and my dealer tried to re-program my PCM but said he couldn't due to not having the "old style" MDS #1 monitor.
So I'm thinking that the next best thing to do is to buy a new PCM that is already upgraded with the update per TSB #21-04-95.
Other than that, I'm hoping that cleaning the connections and TPS, and separating the wires out of the loom might help. Any thoughts?

Shuddering, that sounds familiar. We need TCs. The PCM as far as I know does not control shuddering. It does however control the check engine light.

The pcm gets adjusted to control when the TC locks up. It is set to lock up at too low of speed so it shudders. Not enough fluid can be suplied byt he tranny pump at the low RPM to keep it locked.
I don't *think* the 98 will work, as they changed quite a few things back then, and if it is from a 24V, then definitely no. I *think* NAPA sells remanned PCM's or someone else does, you may try them.

Thanks for the lead. I will look at NAPA and Kragen etc. did not even think about that. The line pressure has been boosted and the VB has been modified but the TC does not like the 370s.

A reman pcm from napa is about $175, the core charge is about $300 though.
Some folks still have to have Dodge reflash the reman pcms to compensate for different year models and transmission types.

The OEM part number for the 1997 with AUTO (no 4wd or 2 wd) is as follows:
56040504AC ---49 states (List price 425.00)
4897620AA ---California (list price 554.00)
If anyone cares DC allows .4 Hrs for warranty replacement, so it should be VERY simple.
Maybe this helps someone..
