P7100 questions
I have a ford dump truck that has a 12v cummins engine. When I got it didn't start well and smoked white smoke bad and popped and carried on till it warmed up. We replaced lift pump didn't help. We had a guy we know that is a retired cummins mechanic look at. He changed the overflow valve. It helped a lot but still not where it should be. When start up when cold it has a lot of white smoke and don't rev up good. I put a fuel psi gauge on it today and it is around 32 at idle. Is it too high? From what I read it should be around 18-24? Any ideas ? Also it only turn 2300 rpm max. Is there a way to get Rpms up?

Late injection timing is one more thing that can make it smoke and run rough after a cold start.
On the Dodges, if the max RPM is low, the most common thing I've run across is a misadjusted throttle linkage. Have a helper sit in the driver seat and slowly push the throttle to the floor while you watch the linkage under the hood and make sure it moves the lever on the P7100 all the way to the full throttle position. If not, there may be something worn out causing play in the linkage, or it may need adjustment.

Is that a 5.9 or 8.3? What HP rating?
2300 under load isn't far off for stock governed rpm, see what it goes to no load. A 5.9 should go right to 3k rpm no load, 8.3 may only go to 2500 stock.
I would check injection timing and make sure it isn't sucking air into any fuel lines to start.
32 psi is higher than needed at idle, but shouldn't cause any ill effects. What is it under load?
