I sold my 1997 12v in my description to my dad. He went to start the truck yesterday and the truck just kept reving up for no reason. He never touched the throttle at all. The pedal feels normal he said and under the hood everything moves as it should.

Any ideas?

How high did it rev, and did it stay up at RPM or was it fluctuating?

If you are talking about the low RPM warble when you have the idle too low and it is cold, that's the only time i have ever seen one do it.

My dad said it just kept going up n up and wouldn't stop till he shut it down. He said it was like the throttle was stuck full throttle.
