47RH trans wiring.. HELP!!!

Does someone have a FSM for a 95-97?

I am trying to install this in my 92'. THere are 3 wires on the trans plug for the OD and lockup TC.

grey or brown - fwd front most
Green/black strip - middle
Orange/Black strip- rear or aft

I'm guessing the center is for the power, rear for OD and front would be TC.. but that's just logical.

If someeone would be so nice as to look it up and help me finish my project.

There is no 47RH in the 96 book. It shows 7 wires on a 47RE

Trans Temp = VT
Torque Converter Clutch = OR/BK
Overdrive Solenoid = BR
Variable Force Solenoid = VT/WT
Governor Press Sig = LG/WT
Sensor Ground = BK/LB
5 Volt Supply = OR

I think the 47 was only used in 94 and 95's.
J-Fox, it sounds like he is putting a newer trans in an 92.

I answered your PM, but I'm going to answer this in the open forum too.

The center wire on the transmission is the hot +12 volt wire.

The front wire is the overdrive ground.

The rear wire is the torque converter lock-up ground.

Ok, I see that now.
The 47re started in 1996. 47RH was 94-95.

Sincere apologies about resurrecting an old old post, but a replacement connector pigtail for the 47RH over-drive/lock-up socket is:

Standard Motor Products (SMP) # S1838

Connector comes in pieces and must be assembled (mine from Rock Auto was in a box and an open bag with parts floating around in the box) but it's only a few items used, and pretty easy to figure out how it goes together.

The Park-Reverse-Neutral switch connector I found is

ACDelco # PT2139

Just leaving this here for anyone in the future who's needing it. The OD/LU connector wasn't with the correct year/engine section of Rock Auto's part search tool, so it took some guessing to find the "3-pin connector" and hope it was the right one.

Have you physically used the Standard connector S1838 yet?

The reason I ask is I had told someone on here a few years back and they said it wouldn't fit.

I had my doubts, because they clearly call that number for the 47RH, but never recommended it again because of that experience.

Hopefully you say it plugged right in, because in my experience, Standard makes some pretty good stuff, perhaps in one case they got a mislabeled part.

Well, I put the connector together, and plugged it into the socket until it clicked into place. It has the correct outer shape...a small key on one side and a half-round key on the other. The pins are offset from center correctly. The pins are round and the socket part slides over the pin with a good "gripping" feel to it.

But I've only put the transmission in the truck over the weekend, and I've got several weeks before I'll have it filled with fluid and running again....so....I could try an ohm meter and see for sure if it's making proper connection. BRB...

I get the same resistance...like 31 ohms...between each of the solenoids; the center pin and front and the center pin and back...when I read the pins directly and when I read it from the pigtail wires when the connector is plugged in. Just looking at mechanically, I can't imagine how this connector wouldn't work. The ohm meter sure thinks it does.

Maybe they got a box of parts like I did, with no instructions, and then didn't put it together correctly. Also when I looked at Rock Auto for the connector, they only listed the 2-pin connector as the "right one" (S1958) for 94-95. I ended up just looking at listings and found a 3-pin connector for something like a 89, but an '89 didn't come with a 47RH or use a 3-pin connector, I don't think. So if it's goofed up in that database, it maybe goofed up in others, and someone didn't pay attention to the part number.

But from looking at the way the connector goes together, and looking at the socket, and having tested it with an ohm meter...I'd be surprised if it doesn't work. However, I have been surprised at times.

Ok, thanks much for the confirmation.

I am sure it will work, like I said, Standard products doesn't put out junk, and from what was described, it sounded like they had simply gotten a mismarked box, because they said it physically wouldn't plug in.
I can recommend that part number again!
