160 12v fuel plates with Allison AT 545

I'm in need some opinions, I'm repowering my Bookmobile camper & got a 1994 160hp Cummins & Allison at545 from a 72 passenger BlueBird flatnose. Technically, the Allison is only rated for 235hp & 455 ft/lbs torque. I want to turn the engine up with a fuel plate, 3k governor springs, boost elbow & guages. I've never messed with an auto behind the Cummins, how much power could I really throw at it? I'd hope for 300hp & 650 ft/lbs torque. Will this be possible without smoking that trans??
I love my #10 fuel plate in my early 98 ram 5 SP, but seems like it would be underpowered with the smaller 160 injector put on the 94 industrial engine. Would a #8 or 6 be to hot or not very streetable? Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I think I would stick with the #10 myself.

How hard will it be to get at the plate once you install the engine? How far ahead do you have your plate slid on the 98?

It will be easy to get to when in. On the Dodge, it's slid forward a bit, but I've tuned the AFE wheel & have an adjustable fuel bolt. Plus it's a 215 p-pump. The nv4500 that's in that seems to be much more stout than the Allison at 545 that's going in the Bookmobile.

That's kind of where I was going, Even with a 160 pump the 10 should be able to be tuned to 300 Hp without any sweat, I would think there is no need to get any bigger or more aggressive.

Patdaly,
That's where I definitely want to be, but I'm not confident the at544 trans will hold up, it's rated 235hp &455 ft/lbs torque. That configuration would put the engine around 300hp/550tq. I've heard alot of mixed reviews on that trans.

Well the diesel version NV4500 is only rated for 460ft lbs of torque and somewhere around 19,000 gcwr, so it's about an identical torque rating in comparison to your Allison not sure on its gcwr but I bet the Allison is higher yet.

I suspected the gcwr was much higher for the Allison you have. I beleive you will have to deside for yourself the difference between your wants and needs! It's all in how it's used.

One individual can make it work at higher power levels compare to the next guy who can't keep them together much past the factory rating. You'll have to determine the difference between a want and a need. If you want the extra horsepower you may need to fix it more regularly, or do you need it to work flawlessly and just wish you had more power?

Unless I am reading this wrong, the # 10 should keep you in a safer area than either the #6 or #8.
