Well im gonna be puttin a new pump on my truck and I do not want another going bad and ive heard some things about the low sulphur diesel tearing up our pumps for lack of lubrication. Do yall put any oil in the fuel or anything like that for extra lubrication and pump longevity?

I heard of others running pump #2 diesel dumping in a little 2-stroke oil for lubricity.

I'm running a 2nd gen piston lift pump through a bypass regulator and that's it. I have been accused of running WVO and B100 in my tank but that's just because it runs better. I run the High Pressure lift pump to ensure fuel to the VE at all times so I guess I'm getting lube and cooling...we'll see.

You still cant get all the water out of bio i know of more than a few that have had pumps fail do to watered down bio. Imo 2 stroke and cheap atf are very good.

Check out this link, they did a lubricity test on all these additives, including bio, waste motor oil, all the popular diesel lubricity conditioners and 2 -stroke oil.

I've seen that one before. I wish they'd tested some of those at different concentrations. For example, they tested waste oil (Rotella T 15w-40) at a concentration of 200:1. Given the 30 gallon tank in the 1st Gens, that's about a half quart of used oil. Cummins used to approve the use of up to a 5% concentration of used oil, which is a heck of a lot more than 200:1 -- one and a half gallons!

I used to use a little less than a gallon per tank in my '92 to offset the poor lubricity of our winter blend fuel up here in Anchorage. The guy I sold it to in 2003 is my former boss and I'm still in contact with him. The truck is still purring like a kitten, and he has continued my practice.

Personally I think good quality biodiesel would be the best thing, even just as an additive, but I can't buy it up here and I'm not comfortable making it. For me the next best thing is used oil.

I too was curious as to why they used such a small concentration of wmo. I have a good bio station less than 5 miles from the house, I am going to be using the 50:1 mix of bio and see what happens.

50:1 mix of bio (even if it's B100) is kind of a waste of time...IMHO of course. I've got 5 gallons of WVO on top of a tank full of B100 and I just drove 95 miles to work his am and have one so for quite some time. You won't notice anything with that amount except maybe the wonderful aroma...mmmm

Leave your truck running and add the biodiesel to an almost empty tank, you will hear what happens as soon as the bio hits the engine. It will quiet the entire engine down, its very noticable.

2% is all that is needed to SIGNIFICANTLY increase the lubricity.... and cheaper than any other lubricity addative.

Also I have heard bad things about mixing WVO with bio in the tank, especially if there is any extra methanol left in the bio.

Be running B100 for years.If produced properly it will not hold water nor have traces of methanol. Brew my own to keep a high quality control.The bad rap on biodiesel is from bad producers.There is ways of doing it right.

Alright well say im not a biodiesel guy yet and I just run to the truck stop to fill up...........whats the best thing to throw in too a full tank of fuel?

I usally throw in about a half of quart of super teck from wally world. sometimes a full quart if I'm feeling generous!! But I really only put in about 15-18 gallons.. Don't trust my fuel guage, and it is easier on the wallet.. "so it may seem"
