Everytime I get into my 5 year old diesel at night where I need lots of light (which doesn't happen too often, thank goodness) I am thoroughly disgusted at how Chrylser can deploy such absolutely crap headlights. I have upgraded to the dual Sports lamp two years ago, but little improvement.<br><br>My high beams are great, but only thanks to almost 800 Watts worth of Hello halogen spots and floods.<br><br>Compared to European or even Jap technology the main head lights are absolute junk, high or low beam. I guess the problem is both focusing of the reflector as well as scatter patterns in the lense.<br><br>My quest is now to search for some Xenon or bi-xenon headlamps systems that I can adapt to fit.<br><br>Does anybody have any working experience as to which units might be adapted? I have no problems going to round lights with a facia around them, such as seen on the 7-Series BMW. Most square(ish) applications that I have looked at seem to be swept too far back. And I don't want to go with Hella's DE Universal lamp - I have enough pieces of additional glass hanging from the front of the truck.<br><br>Any ideas anyone?<br><br>Fredy<br><br>

Wagner makes a xenon bulb for the Dodge trucks. I believe the part # is 9004BL. I have not tried them so I cant give an opinion as to their performance. I have had them in a 1985 GMC and they worked well, but they were a standard 4 headlight setup.

I installed them in mine but one of my lowbeams overheats and starts to meltdown over a period of time. Did you use a kit, buy the factory harness, or do your own wiring? Thanks.

All home-made cabling, EvilDiesel. In fact every 100 Watt lamp filament has its own relay and receives power through dedicated 10 gauge wire. Lot of work, but at least i get plenty of juice to those lamps. all I use the original hi/lo wiring for is to drive all the relays.<br><br>Filament brightness is not a problem for me, but overall lamp focus is.

Although I haven't tried any of these yet, I know Sylvania &amp; PIAA both make brighter street legal bulbs for your truck. If you have a lot of money to burn, you could install an HID system. If I understand you post, you already have the Sport headlights and would not loose highbeams by installing HID's. Personally, I'm thinking of getting a set of PIAA's.

As I say, the problem really comes with marginal reflector and lense qualities of even the sports lamps. I have tried aftermarket lamps - brighter yes, but still not an acceptable light scatter pattern. <br><br>No doubt XID D2S lamps and ballasts is the way to go (money is no problem, I don't mind spending dough if I can see the light ), but I am in search for a suitable reflector/s and lense unit that will fit in the Ram's nose.<br><br><br>EvilDiesel - just tap into the original hi and low beam wires that go to the bulbs to drive the relay/s. No schematic required here.<br><br>Fredy
