X-monitor,who installed yours, who owns one

I want to order a X-Monitor for x-mas. EGT/Trans/Boost.
My questions; does the kit come with "everything" you
need to do it yourself and set-up for the truck your want?
All fittings, easy to read instructions?
Where have you owners tapped into the exhaust manifold for
boost and EGT. Also, how do you tap into the trans for accurate temp readings?

Thanks

Glad this has been bought up. I want to get one for my truck also, and I have the same questions.

Re:X-monitor,who installed yours, who owns one

I have an X-monitor and installed it myself. It took me about 2-2 1/2 hrs to do it. The kit comes with everything you need except the mopar paint to match the column. If you do a search someone put a great illustration of where to tap the manifold for the thermocouple for egt. I put mine 3/4 " from the back and 3/4" from the bottom flange. The boost is tapped with a supplied bolt. The trans temp is taken from the ECM. The instructions are pretty straight forward and IMHO the whole unit is pretty slick looking when done. I like being able to see the max temps in certain situations. I hope I helped to somewhat answer some of your questions. Do a search there are a couple threads her and at TDR that really helped prepare me for my install. Best of luck. Bryan

Re:X-monitor,who installed yours, who owns one

Bryan, Do you have any pictures showing the EGT and boost
sensors installed?...The trans temp gets its signal from the
ECM?..no sensor to install to measure actual fluid temp at
the pan?

Do you drill a hole in the A piller to route the sensor cables?
Is the option with the remote sensor for a actual trans temp
sensor? Geno's has them for $429 Pyro/Boost/trans temp and
$479 for Pyro/Boost/Remote temp..which one should I get?

Thanks

Re:X-monitor,who installed yours, who owns one

Sorry no pics. Yes the trans gets its info from the ECM. I would think that the remote temp would be fine for the true trans temp but was told that the temp the ECM record is fairly accurate. I don't really tow anything all that large so the ECM reading is fine for me but if I did I would have gone with the remote set-up. As for the hole in the A-pillar yes I did drill holes for the wire. But there is only one that goes to the actual monitor the rest plug into a module and this is connected to the monitor by a telephone type wire. The hole only has to be like 3/8" forr the wire to fit. I figure if I go to trade I will just get another pillar to replace the damaged one it will surely be much cheaper than new guages. The instructions say you don't have to drill the pillar but I didn't see how I could do that and it look as clean as it does now. Maybe someone else has an idea? I would suggest you check out BD's forum as there is helpful info there as well. Thanks Bryan
