Winter front - grille covers, lund - where to buy?
I know card board / 12 pack is cheap to block the radiator but I really like the look of the lund grille covers. I can not seem to find these at all - anyone have a suggestion where to buy.
I also, my truck was ordered with a winter package - does dodge hide the factory cover somewhere on the truck? Also, does the winter package mean that I have battery warmers on the truck? I do have a soft, cloth type device surronding each battery.
thanks

Was the winter package ordered for the truck in your Sig? Did you buy this truck new?
I have a winter front on my truck but I bought this from a dealer on line back in Jan 08. The winter front will mount in front of the coolers but behind the grill. Out of site when the hood is closed, I like it that way.

ok, I was reading this and after having two diesel trucks over 5 years in MI, I finally got inspired to get a winter front... I am too frugal for the mopar kit, but above the pizza box solution... Here is what I did..
24x36" piece of aluminum sheet from the hardware store $10 with a coupon...
Cut it to 22 1/2" wide with an aluminum straight edge and utility knife.
used the same aluminum straight edge to break a 1" overhang at the top. Like an inverted "J"...
Cut it to 23" long and punched two holes in the bottom with a leather punch to tie wrap it to the truck.
view from the top
view of the bottom. I fed a tie wrap through the condenser protector I have...
We'll see how it works...thought I would share..

winter front
Thanks - that looks very clean, good approach.
I bought the truck used - I had pulled the VIN to identify the truck, I believe any dodge dealership can print off the specs for a particular VIN. When reviewing the information, I had thought the truck came with the "winter package".
Regardless, I will look into that idea.

I plan on building about the same but to go between the rad and intercooler. A few holes for the fan clutch and 2 removable vents for adjustment.
Your aluminum looks good but I think I'll use plastic (rattle/noise). I have to see what I can find at the supplier for type of product.

Ya know you are right... So here is what I just went out and did.
cut the tie wraps and pulled it off the AC condenser. Then dropped it down, backwards right in front of the radiator... It hangs off of the cooler right in front of the radiator, which is the transmission cooler right??
So the first three are not blocked, but the radiator is... Or about 3/4s of it...

OK so why do we want a winter cover? On the big rigs I've driven they were put on when it got so cold the heaters didn't work anymore but here in Colorado we rarely used them. My 08 Cummins 3500 has been run in temps well below zero with no loss of heat and the temp gauge was as high as normal, around 200 deg. So whats the point on getting a cover?

You get a faster warm up,plus it holds a little more heat inunder the hood when you use the block heater at nite. You can get the covers from Summit or Jegs or even Cabela's for something like 90.00 .

Thanks BlueOx1. It sounds like it would probably also make life easier for my Espar heater. Makes sense really, keep the rad warm and everything else stays warmer. I may have to look into a cover.
