what's first year for hydraboost ?

Are the brake lines(hard) the same as pre hydraboost?

Rear are, I would bet the fronts are as well, you wouldn't want to pay factory prices for the hard line anyway.

First year for Hydraboost was 1997.

what did they use before?

just wondering..I'm still learning about my 99 truck and don't know much about trucks before that..the only thing I drive that's a diesel that's older has air brakes..so it doesn't count

I usually just make up my own lines but I found some prebent stainless for sale for 96-99.

The power steering pump has a vacuum pump built into the back half on the older trucks.

Newer trucks as well, it just doesn't provide brake assist.

To nit-pick, the vacuum pump is mounted in front of the power steering, and they are two separate units, not "built into". (on second Gens, don't know about "older trucks")
