Vacuum pump question

If I no longer need a Vacuum pump what should I do with it? Can I gut it out or should I put some kind of filter on it and let it suck or what suggestions do you have?

Just cap it off and let it suck on the cap.

Ok I thought about that, I guess it would not be any different then continuing sucking after 15 inches or so is acieved.
