Question Used Military Hummer Tires??

Any body using or tired used Hummer Military tires? Seems like they can be had for cheap for what they are, I think most are runflat and they are all 36-37 x 12.5 R 16.5 I have seen 4 with 85% rubber for $500 do these things fall apart or crack badly? seams like a good deal for michelins or goodyears and the military jobs should be tough as nails right? Now that weve had 6 years of heavy war running there is no short supply on these things. The tread seams to be a great mud/all terrain.

Any body??

I knew someone who put some on a buggy for off roading. The run flat's are actually magnesium inserts that go around the inside of the wheel. (We had fun with those in our camp fire) They removed those so he could air down and I think they eventually made bead locks with them.

Not for sure how they would be on one of our truck's. You could always opt for some 52" Michelins. Heard you can get those real cheap also. Doubt you'd ever wear the tread off them.

Keep me infomred cuz these things are everywhere now and cheap for the size and style. I have been drooling over them at my work (DOD) there is a set of Military Wrangler XT's on a trailer mount Generator and they look preety sweet. And I just happen to be over run with the ""hard to find tires for"" 16.5 x 8-10 rims

Well my tires were supposed to be here last thursday from CA. They made it to within about 30 miles of me and Fedex tracker says they turned around and were shipped back to the seller. So im pretty right now. I bought them off of ebay from a power seller with a 100% rating so im not to worried about getting screwed and im hoping they will get to me. But i will give you some info when they come in.

There are two styles on those tires the military uses... one is bias ply and while very rugged, they make a lot of noise. The others are directional and look more like four "squares" across the tire and are very, very good tires off road. I ran them on my bronco in the rubicon. They are quiet on road and drive well. Only so-so in rain and not great on ice/snow due to lack of siping. They wear average for that type of tire. Overall for the price I think you'll be very pleased.

What kind of lift are you running or are you just running a leveling kit or what?
