truck stoped

can someone tell me if u can interchange vp44 235hp to a245hp on a 98.5 24v. I am new to this so bare with me.my truck stoped while i was driving on the interstate as if someone turned the key. I was told its the injector pump.

give us some more info. just stopped no power nothing. do you have fuel pressure. do you have a gauge. etc. you cant cycle to get codes but if you know anyone with a reader this will help. IMO if you do need to replace your injection pump go with what it is suppose to have. does it crank and just not fire or no crankie at all.

To answer your initial question, you cannot put an HO pump on an SO truck. It may run, but it won't run properly. You can however put an SO pump on an HO truck, with some minor drawbacks. Your issue could be a number of things though.

yes the motor cranks plenty of fuel to the injector pump but nothing to the injectors. i dont have a fuel guage but i just installed an air dog 150 3 days before this happened

in relation to the vp 44 my truck has a 235hp pump your saying i cant put a 245hp on this truck.

That is correct, it will not run properly I am afraid.

Talk To Blue Chip Diesel He Will Help You Out. I Believe He Sells A Ho Pump To Put On So Trucks Not Positive Though. He Also Has A Nice Trouble Shooting Flow Chart On His Web Site. Helped Me Out Alot When Mine Took The Big Dump!

i would say you would have to reprogram the ecm.
