Hey Luke, If it makes you feel any better, my personal record with a VP44 is 821km. Yeah, 513 miles. Woo hoo

My truck has 210,000 km on it, and its been through 5 injector pumps.

All we need is just a little patience. Yeah right.

I have gotten several pumps from GCL diesel in Edmonton. Top notch service, Rick Mueller there knows his stuff quite well. I get most of m replacement stuff from them for that reason, and they do stand behind their product 100%.

The only pump I ever had trouble with from them, was the one on my truck that went 821km. And hey, it happens. I am not going to slag them on it, as they sent me another one literally right away on the plane. It went out on a friday morning, I called them right away, and had a new one friday night. It doesn't get better than that.

I've done too many of these things now, I'm starting to turn it into a social event. In flat rate time, I can have lunch, a coffee break, and read part of a good book, if I so choose.

Anyway, hope things are looking up for yours.

Heres the thing.......I cannot get the scanner to connect to ECM. Now I have no power to IP no power to lift pump harness.........so far........

I manually jumped the FASS relay, pump works fine. but no trigger power. I have 12volts at the IP connector, harness side. but no 12volts at the stealth cover tap.

There is a code or codes.......but I cannot get the scanner to find the ECM. I removed my ECM and put it in a friends '98 auto truck. My ECM started his truck just fine, and scanner connected no problem. now that leads me to harness problem. possible pump problem.........I only got to work on it for about 1 1/2h today. I go back to work tommorrow, so it'll sit till my next days off now I'm sure.

I dunno if the oil bath my engine took when the HG let go is seeping into somewhere......or something came dissconnected........I need more time to chase the harness.

Check the engine fuse. You have any gauges buddy? I've blow several fuses and its left me dead with similar symptoms. When you plug in the scanner do you have any power or readings? It could be an poor ground on the ecm, been there done that one too. Mine ran, but not very well. I have a spare VP, thats not dead yet, if you want to trade. I was just saving it as a core. If you have to trigger your lift pump manually, I bet that you blew a fuse. The easiest sign is the gauges are dead and will not even wiggle. There will be no ecm or pcm for the 3 key thingy. Good bud. Have you pulled any decent boost numbers. I'll buy back the injectors. I'm pulling my head this weekend. The fun never stops.

I swapped out the 2 ECM fuses on the underhood fuse block. the check engine light went out. but still no start.......the other weird thing. My odometer is flashing. I've never seen one flash before, especially in my truck.

Mike, where does the ECM ground terminate that you were messing with? I can't remember if my guages tweeked or not when I keyed on.......I'll have to double check that. It's the ODO flashing that gets me wondering though. I can still scrol l from trip meter to ODO and back. it never stops flashing.

I had to clean the block where ecm attaches to. I see about getting some pictures. One of my injectors line decided to break today on my way into work. I gave downtown a good diesel bath, at $1.3 a litre, its could be an expensive trip home.

Mike....I think your motor wants to leave...Time to put in bicycle pedals in your truck.

Luke, whats your battery voltage? If you have your odometer, the ecm should be getting power. Have you measured voltage at the fuse box? My truck does funny stuff if the voltage is low i.e. not powering up the liftpump and the dash will flash. Is you voltage gauge working? When my engine fuse blew, nothing worked, no gauges, no odometer and my comunicator wouldn't power up. When I had low battery voltage, the scanner would flash on/off and same with the gauges. I would fix my truck today but I being the smart guy that I am, I left my tools at home. The diesel trail looked funny walking over to my office and made me laugh. It was about 2ft wide and went for at least a couple of clicks. I have never done that before. I've could set fire to her from a half a block away. Its probably something easy to fix too, some duct tape and hay wire would fix her up good.

Nice job Mike! don't let the diesel hit the exhaust mani or turbo......or you could torch your own truck

Actually we had an engine fire at work just last week, on a 16v2000 Detroit power unit. A high pressure hydraulic filter canister let an o-ring go at about 3000 psi.....but we're moving hydraulic oil through the closed loop at around 500 gpm. ANYhow Oil sprayed DIRECTLY onto the offdrillerside turbo and manifold. Was pretty spectacular for how little actual damage to the engine. The fan was pulling fire through the rad..........the shack roof and wall were blazing. All in a matter of seconds. ESD killed the engine quickly though. Good times good times

But interesting thing on my truck. I found a giant moth inside the multipin ECM connector inside the fuse box. Now I just discovered it, squished in the wires down by the pins, I don't know if that caused a problem or what but I have to clean it out and put the charger on the truck. see what happens. maybe tommorrow. if it stops raining.

I thought that I had QC issues. A moth, thats a first for me. The worst engine issue I've seen is a jet engine blowing up, it threw pieces all over the building, and I was about 50ft away. ESD didn't save that one. I've heard of engine running away at sites on natural gas leaks. Jets aren't any different. Glad to hear that it wasn't nothing to serious on the truck. I found that I forgot to tighten up my connectors on my injectors lines to my VP as I just put in a new VP. I was in a hurry to go camping last weekend, so I had to cut corners. I have your old head at D&W engineshop getting machined up. I think mine's toast. I'm not even o-ring or porting the head. Its easier to sale the wifey on a new motor this way. Most of my problems have been caused by me goofing something up. If I got everything 100%, I would be in heaven, cheers, congrats on the find...
