Trouble with VE

Pump shop calls and tells me they cannot remove the two transfer pump bolts from inside the case. They suspect the use of locktite therefore my pump rebuild has doubled in cost! I've searched for a used case without success. Can anyone give me a source for a used pump case? I called the guy in Canada with a used pump for sale ,listed in the classifieds, but I was too late. Under light use what is the life expectancy of a rebuilt pump? Thanks guys.

Sorry To Hear About You Pump Ailments. Tell Your Rebuilder That Just Some Light Heat Will Release The Locktite. I Am Quoting This From The Cummins Dealer Here In So Cal That I Got My Rebuilt Pump From. He Told Me That The Ve's Are Lucky To Get 125k Before They Start Showing Signs Of Wear. Mine Had 265k On It Before I Had It Rebuilt. It Was Pretty Sick. Good Luck

Yes to the heat -- just put the case in the oven at about 350 for an hour and you should be all set. That is assuming they will give you the housing back so you can stick it in the oven. My wife prefers that I use someone else's toaster oven for these operations.

I also use the Stanadyne lubricity additive in my fuel. It really helps the pump survive.

The heat will definitley work, how much are they going to charge for the rebuild? The reason I ask is that the shop I was going to use near me was more expensive than the rebuilt pump I got from Pensacola diesel for 575.00
Just a thought.

Thanks for the replies. $650 was the rebuild cost which is fine; it's the $550 for the new case that has me sick! I'll see how they respond to the heat idea.

Was your old pump toast? If theres no damage to the vane pump, I would keep it put.
