Trans temp sensor location ?

The "out" line on my transmission is the kind that has a port in it. My truck came with an aux tranny cooler. In the port now is the thermostat for the aux cooler fan. I'm thinking about putting a tee on the line port to add my tranny temp gauge sensor but I'm concerned about the extra weight hanging off the tubing putting too much stress on the tubing.

My other choice is to cut the same line where is flattens out just before the elbow that goes to the aux cooler hose and install a compression tee there.

Are the connections on the rigid tubing plain compression fittings or flaired fittings.

Comments welcome.
