Tailgate?

Does anyone have one for a 2007 Dodge or thereabouts - preferably in Khaki (the almond color)? I have a front bumper to trade for it - air dam is cracked on the left side, but a buddy has a new air dam he is giving me.

I found only one tailgate at a recycler here in Edmonton from the 8-10 called - it is white and from a dually, however they want a stupid $600 for it. So, considering paint and then boxliner spray, I'm looking well over a grand.

Or, any tips on pounding out a nasty crease type dent (it is a big one) and I'll just get the boxliner spray extended. I just need to get it roughly close, then they say they can spray it with the boxliner spray, but they are unable to fill in the way it is right now. I visited a body shop and he said heat for sure as the metal is stretched??????? I am definitely no autobody tech. I can try post a pic later.

Ideas are appreciated.

I'm honestly surprized that there aren't more of these thing stolen. My brother was telling me a while back they had a rash of thefts in Red Deer....

Let's see the pic. When my truck was about 2 years old I backed up using my mirrors with the tail gate down. Sure enough garage door was open and I misjudged how much space there was to the brick pillar. Result was a brick pillar embedded in my tailgate. Using a 10 lb sledge and a piece of 2X6, with the tailgate on a piece of thick carpet I beat the tailgate close to shape. I then used a slide hammer to get it closer, a small amount of filler and a stainless tailgate cap finished it off. I had to cut a little of the spray in box liner away but most of it came back OK.

You can find decent tail gates at the wreckers or phone your local auto parts store. They aren't that badly priced. You can fix dents, buts abit of work. Heat the metal until its cherry red and use a cold wet cloth. That will shrink metal, do it to much and you tear the sheetmetal. Most body shops just replace that part of the truck. Its kinda like hoods. Its just easier to replace the part. They a so make RV tail gates cheap and look decent

As for the driveby pick a part stuff,

That price was from one of the wreckers. Amazingly, 8-10 calls (almost all of them around here) and only one had a Dodge tailgate.

I won't do the five finger tailgate thing although I wish it was that easy.

I would hate to say this but its fixable, but its not worth the effort. You'll have a bunch of mud in the gate, to make it straight again. Buy a new gate. Look around. In C-town, you could phone cross canada or LMC buy. Nothing in the bone yards?

Shipping from LMC would double the price unless you had it shipped to Monatana or something.

I just phoned AMP in Edmonton, they want $392.86 for a NEW tailgate for single rear wheel 2007 . Phone number is 780-455-3171
Apparently the dual RW has a cut out for brake light, they don't stock that one.
I use AMP for all my sheet metal parts and lights. They are just off the Yellowhead around 127 st.

I really hope your not suggesting that. I would freakin murder somebody if I caught them in the act. Some piece of crap hopped my fence last night and stole both 30# full propane bottles off the front of my trailer! I"m really starting to hate this city
