Tailgate issues... - Dodge Diesel

I purchased a bed from an 01 but the rubber **** that the tailgate sets on are different from my original bed. The ones from my old bed were round and the new bed has oval round ones... Can I just purchase the piece for my tailgate to convert it? I'm really hating not having a tailgate!!!

Have you tried your local pick and pull???That is where I found some used ones.....And a lot cheaper too.

Brother had to do this and used ones off old gate. Guess you don't have those parts.

I took my tailgate off one and drove into town, forgetting to take that part off before I left. Lost it. P/N: 55274936AC from the dealer gets you one side for about $5.50 for your 01 bed.

I have the rubber things I need the female piece from the tailgate. When I took my old tailgate off my old bed it was rusted so the female piece broke in the process of getting it loose.

There again, this is a dealer item that still can be purchased. I'm afraid by being a dealer item you going to pay through the nose.
For anyone out there that need the plastic pieces in the tail gate hinge/pivot, I found one of those "HELP" kits made by Dorman that has both sides for about 5 bucks. P/N: 38641.
