Stupid question, where is the spare tire jack and crank located?

I noticed that my spare tire is loose and swings a bit so I want to crank the winch up and make it nice and tight. So like the title says, where does Dodge keep the tire jack and tools on the 3rd gens? I've looked by the rear seat and can't find it... Maybe I'm blind? Or maybe my truck didn't come with the tire change tools (I bought it used).

Not a dumb question; heck, I remember a few months after I bought my truck I was picking up some trash in the front floorboard, looked under the front seat at just the right angle, and what do ya know. If it would of been a snake it would have bitten me.

I have actually had to use that little screw jack on the highway when I blew a rear tire. Suprisingly it worked very well. Now I know in an emergency that I don't need to have the 3 1/2 ton floor jack in the back.

I actually need to figure out how that thing actually works on these trucks, I reach max height before I make contact with the truck....I keep a high lift in the bed anyway, but in an emergency, I wish I knew how that thing worked....

so where did you place it on the truck?

I had to use mine two times within 3 weeks! I ran over a thatching tine in my girlfriends yard once and picked up a nail in my gravel driveway the other time. Its a quick little system. You can stand up and crank. I put mine under the axle.

Definately not a stupid question. I looked all over for the thing, obviously refusing to get the owner's manual out because, of course, this should be easy. After looking for about 30 minutes I gave up and cracked the plastic on the owner's manual.

X2

It isn't tall enough to put anywhere except under the axles. Hands down the best spare tire jack that I have seen.

Works great for trailers too.

Only time I used mine is when a buddy spun the shaft that controls the up-and-down on on his 5th wheel and couldn't get the trailer up high enough to hitch to his truck. Used his bottle jack (ford) and mine with some wood. Got him home.

We use ours for lifting equipment more than anything else - they're pretty strong!

Use it under the axle. Seems it will work with 35s without needing something under it. I do keep my High Lift base in the truck now. Should work for unstable ground if needed.

you could carry some 4 x 4 blocks to give you some reach.

I had a rock pierce a rear tire out in the absolute middle of nowhere. The ground was uneven, but I had a short 2X8 piece to put under the jack. It worked great!
