If you try and reset the odometer mileage meter while truck is in gear and under way you can break the delicate plastic gears for it. Gear assembly is on speedometer head and can be rebuilt at home with instruction available on th net.

4X4 light may be a burned out bulb in dashboard.

Jmping speedometer may need lubrication.

Cruise may be a bad vacuum hose or connection.

Here are some good instructions on how to repair the odometer.

This is the cheapest place to buy the odometer gears.

The second link didn't work but just search ebay for dodge odometer gears and you'll find what you need for only $22.

The reason your OD and cruise control, and your speedo aren't working is because they are not getting a signal from the VSS. This could be from a bad VSS, bad connection to the VSS, VSS not being driven by the transfer case, or some bad wiring.
4X4 light could be bulb, 4X4 switch on T case, connector to the switch, or bad wiring.
OEM steering couplers are a common problem. Replace it with an aftermarket steering shaft.

I was told that you could wire a override switch to lock the overdrive in. The person that told me said he just needed a switch and some wire but can't get him to ever answer his phone. Can I do this myself and if so how do you. thank you

Here is a write up I did a while back. You can substitute a regular on/off for my fancy switch set up.

You might check the hole that the speed sensor shaft slides into. Mine stripped out so I pressed some epoxy into the hole and then inserted the sensor shaft and pulled it out to form a new square hole. Once the epoxy had cured and hardened I re-assembled everything and the speedometer works great. The speed sensor shafts can round off and spin inside the hole which can round off the inside of the hole.

That's something I might need to check.
I just lost my speedo/OD again. I've replaced the VSS a couple of times, but this time it didn't fix it so I'm wondering where else the problem could be and figured it might be something at the transfer case.

I had the intermittent speedo problem and when I put on a new VSS the speedo didn't work at all. After I epoxied the inside of the gear ratio adapter/reducer and formed a new square hole it worked fine. As I previously mentioned the inside of the hole that the VSS shaft slides into can round out.
