Fuel fill hose

I was filling my truck for the second time since buying it, and noticed when the tank was getting close to full, there was a steady stream of fuel pissing on the ground ($$$). After I got home from work that day I crawled under there and found the hose the fuel was coming from. Someone had taken a piece of clear hose and after cutting a hole in the main fill hose, inserted the clear one and silicone the heck out of it. I can only think that a PO did this as some kind of extra overfill device . Or is this some kind of mod that is done to these trucks???

I don't have a pic handy, but I can take one

I would agree with you regarding it's something that a previous owner did, although why I don't know.

It's not a mod I've ever heard of being done either. Maybe the guy filled up at a place the automatic cut off on the pump handle didn't work.

That's my guess too. I'm gonna have to just plug that hose with a bolt and hose clamp until I can get around to changing it out

Bob, you nailed it! The previous owner must have had an aux tank. Thanks

I am cheap, so I just cut the hose short and stuck a bolt in it and used a hose clamp. So fuel spillage now!

I probably would have done the same thing. Glad you found the culprit.
