Reworking my headliner today
Just thought I would share my progress thru is. Headliner is out and cloth is off. Now comes the time consuming part of scrubbing the old foam off. I am using a light touch with a wire brush in a cordless drill. Seems faster than by hand with a wire brush.

Test fit of new covering. This is a really close match to the existing color. I first went to JoAnn fabrics like I see many refer to but all they had was black, grey and tan and only 54" wide. I ended up having to drive 30 miles to a place called Hancock fabrics and they had a few more colors and 60" wide which is what you need for this rig. This color they call it "sandy grey". Plus it was in sale. For the material and a can of 3M Super 77 it was less than $25. A couple local shops wanted over $400 to recover it!

I had thought I saw something about NOT using the 3m 77 for headliners so I went to O'Reiley's and got a can of Permatex headliner adhesive just to be safe. I'd rather not do this again in a few months.

So as luck would have it, one can of this stuff isn't enough. I got a bit over half way on the second half, so had to run to the store for more. A word to the wise...while the can doesn't say that you have to spray both the base and the foam, but YES you definitely need to or it won't adhere very well. Think of contact cement. A pic of applying adhesive to both sides.
Here is the headliner done at trimmed.

Final shot with everything reinstalled. With all the running around I had to do, this whole process took me all day and night to finish, but glad to have it done!!!

Looks like a lot of glue. I have done cars before and seem like when there to much glue, the foam itself stick together (saturates) and leaves an uneven surface, but yours look al some.
