I have a 93 D350 automatic. the other day after driving about 30 miles I pulled up to home Depot and my engine died. the lights and windows work but it will not turn over. checked the battery connections and they appear to be ok but still no action. any ideas?. where to start?
Thanks

Check the starter relay, solenoid and starter itself.

did you check both ends of both battery cables?

Try to start it a few times and then go feel all battery & starter wires, if one is hotter than the others, its got problems.

Also check battery voltage, and volts at fuel shutoff solenoid with key in run position.

More then likely it's your starter relay on the drivers inner fender. Check the sticky for a thread in the electrical section. It's called..."What are these connections on my intercooled motor".....or some such thing.

I had a bad starter relay recently. I could tap/whack it with a screw driver and then the truck would start.

But he said the truck died without him turning the key off.

I know it's an obvious first thing to check... But did the FSS come unplugged?

you can possibly jump the fss and starter solenoid to get it moving

Fusible link left side front is what I would investigate first.

I don't have a 93 manual, but my 91 indicates it could cause what you have.

Wire fell of the FSS when you where pulling in the parking lot, and the truck died, is my guess…

When you say it won't turn over you mean the starter isn't working correct? Or do you mean the starter is working but the engine doesn't start? I get this all the time, people have their cars towed in saying it won't crank. Well yeah, the starter is working, the engine just doesn't run.

If the starter spins it over but it doesn't start I'd look at the fuse links as was stated already. A jumper to the FSS off the battery positive post should get it running if that's the case.

If the starter doesn't spin try jumping the solenoid at the starter along with a jumper to the FSS.
