Manifold to turbo stud

Does anyone know what thread and size the manifold studs are that go through the turbo? I was trying to put my exhaust housing on and the first one i tried to get the nut off it snapped the stud in the manifold. I guess this is a project that I will have to do at work cause I have a torch there. i was trying to do it at home and figured if I could not get the housing off I would just take the turbo with me and heat it up but it looks like thats not going to work.

I think a 2" long stud would be enough. I'd take a wild guess at the flange thickness on both the manifold and turbo being 1/2".

^^^ What he ( Captain Chrysler ) said. ^^^

They are right at 1-1/2 American inches long.

I somehow came up shy one stud in my recent project, so I substituted a plain old bolt of the correct size until the next time that I order from McMaster-CARR.

The local ACE has a huge new cabinet full of every metric bolt imaginable; alas, they do not yet have studs.

When I removed all the turbo studs from my manifold, I soaked them with knocker-loose just about every day for a couple months.

Then, I layed the heat to the surrounding area with a plain old propane bottle torch.

Candle-stick in hand, as soon as the stud and surrounding area was about as hot as it was gonna get, I took away the flame and pressed the candle against the hot threads.

The melted wax penetrated deep within the threads and the studs walked out with ease.

I used to do the PB blaster thing til I got a oxy/acetylene torch. That's the best way to do it IMO.

I just happened to remember an old damaged one laying on the bench.

I went out to the shop and layed it on the ruler.

1-5/8 American inches long overall length.

3/8-inch long un-threaded portion.

Both threaded ends identical in length.

You will have to convert these numbers to communist numbers before ordering.

Thanks very much everyone I will probably just get a bolt for now. I will probably need to order a stud. No one around here will have it.

I've got two off my he351 if you want them, I think they're the same? just squirt some wd40 on them and let it sit for about 15 mins and get some vice grips and screw them out.

Sadly, that statement holds true for just about anything in the little mudhole where I live.
