HTT 62/65/12 or 62/65/14... who's got one?

Afternoon, DTR...

I'm looking into a HTT 62/65/12 that is used, and I'm thinking of having it upgraded with a 14 on the exhaust side... who has one, how do they work out for you?

I'm still learning about turbos... help me out if I'm being a

Thanks!!!

I ran a 62/65/12 for a year. Great turbo for daily driving and towing.Instant spool up a egt's stayed in check.Only downside was on top end at the strip or long WOT runs.Have since gone to a 62/71/13ss and I love the top end but do miss the instant spool of the 62/12 when towing.I guess it all comes down to what your looking for.I talked to HTT about doing the 14cm upgrade on the 62/12 and they said drive pressures would drop some but not substantially.Don't do like me and buy stuff 2 and 3 times. Take your time and decide what you want your truck to end up being and only do it once!

At your HP level, stick with the 12... no real benefit to the 14 and you will smoke more at take off with the lag.

Sooo... the question remains... I've gotten different word from different people... stay with the 12, or go with the 14?

I would personally go with the 14. If you are already around 520 I think the 12 will be too small.

See, that's the thing. I have been told that the 14 will be too much and will be too hot running around town, then I've been told that I need the 14 for the fueling mods that I have. (mp8?)

I don't wanna make the wrong choice...

The guy that I'm buying it from is sending it to HTT to be refurbished, and it's a 12 now. We're going to find out what it's going to cost to make it a 14 while it's there.

I don't think a 12 or a 14 is going to make that much of a difference. The 14 will flow better but for the cost of upgrade not that much better.

For ME there is no way I would get a 12, honestly I wish I had gotten an aroura 5000 cause the turbo I have now wont keep me cool at WOT.

If it is much more money I wouldnt worry about the 14 cause like homewrecker said there wont be enough differance to matter much anyway.

I dont see a downloader in your sig but if you got a 14 and it was too laggy for ya you could get a smarty, or if you had a smarty just turn your torque managment up.

I am at 800ft above sea level and with my mods and 6 spd I have no troubles spooling my 66 or towing with it, even well over 20k lbs.

So, get the 14 if it's not too much $$, but don't worry about it if it's X$$...
