2014 ram 3500 test drive - is it me?

My son and I just drove a 2014 DRW 4.10 Aisin - what is with the dead pedal when you nail it. We timed it 0-60 and it's a full second slower than my truck. Best looking truck by far but around town couldn't stand driving it. What's the deal - is anybody talking about this?

Oh yes. It's a hot topic over on the Cummins and TDR forums.

Yes I did the same think yesterday nice truck 2014 limited can't compare to my 01 but where,s the power foot to floor its like driving my wife's escape its hard to go from 25mpg to 15mpg its hard to justify the cost, put 15000 in mine or 60000 with trade for mine. New is nice I can afford it but?????????

You should try one when it's -15f out transmission won't up shift until it gets warm enough.
One truck with the asin I test drove in the warm weather had that dead petal feel to it also. My 14 with manual, no dead petal

I suspect it's tuning. The beancounters are trying to protect the tranny (and the rest of the drivetrain warranty). You don't get all 850 ft. lbs. right off the bottom of the tach.

We've been driving the new 2015's from GM/FORD (DRW) and it's terrible to say but both are very responsive to throttle input around town. It's so disappointing to finally drive the new RAM and find this happening. I can't see myself being happy driving the truck everyday. My 05' has been perfect, now at 325K (new trans at 200K). Out ran a brand new Aisin 4.10- I just can't believe it!

I've read that owners disabling the traction control in the EVIC said it reduces the effects of the dead pedal. No first hand experiences with this though.

A relative of mine has a '14 2500 with the G56 doesn't have this issue.

I have said it on CF and I will post my thoughts here. I shopped for 18 months before I purchased my new to me 4th gen. I was very close to purchasing a 13-3500 a few times and a 14-2500. Loved the new frame, it's like a tank up front compared to my third. Loved the improvements in cooling capacity, and SCR capability for longevity, fuel consumption, and oil drain interval.

Absolutely hated the price of a Base truck, 3.42 only on the 2500, and the slow response off the line is one thing but take one and hammer it to the floor then get out of it and back in and its down right dangerous. What I mean is real dead pedal, say when you think your going to pull out in front of someone then realize they are going to fast, then realize you are out to far and have no choice but to mash it and pray and OMG, nothing for a second or two, NOTHING. We have all been there and in these trucks it could get you killed because they just DONT move at all for a second or two.

My wife wanted me to purchase a brand new truck, nothing else. I had an opportunity to drive an (I had driven many 13/14 by themselves at dealers before) 11 non HO, 12 HO, and 13 back to back to back. Well you can see what's in my sig! Prior to the test drive I wanted the 13, but the 12 was that much better. It simply did what I wanted it to do, when I wanted it and was/is a joy to drive.

Sorry for the novel, I think the new trucks are on the right path but I refuse to deal with a truck that won't do what I want. I refuse to be stuck with a 3.42. I refuse to be told I have 800/850/865 ft/lbs respectively but never feel them till late in the game if at all.

I also think its hysterical the 13-2500 is rated at around 16.5-17.5k max tow while the 12-2500 is 12k and some change when the frames and trucks are the same minus the engine (and the HP/torque ratings are near the same). Lol.

No dead petal on my 14 with a manual, I also put TS's Stryker to make up for the factory lower power rating. Clutch seems to hold just fine

Have you noticed with the stryker any of the things TS advertises with the stryker besides the extra power. like reducing the dpf cycling??
